Filed under: 2. CARBONplus - COMPLIANCE MARKETS Forum

Taking into account that CARBONplus accounting system is designed to be used on community based micro-scale projects that produce other co-benefits besides GHG mitigation. Do you think CARBONplus accounting tool can help micro-scale projects to achieve higher prices in the market therefore overcoming the prohibitive CDM transaction costs?

As I’ve said in a couple of other posts, while it can be valuable to quantify co-benefits of projects beyond carbon reduction, it is unlikely that the market will be willing to absorb higher costs (at least during this commitment period) beyond a very small niche market – particularly if your focus is on small scale projects which themselves make up a very small portion of the overall CDM market.
